For anyone using a consumer-grade lenses, an extra one or two hundred dollars spent on Optics Pro will elevate the image quality produced to close to that of a much more expensive lens. The extension is capable of applying optical corrections, White Balance correction, DxO Smart Lighting, PRIME denoising and DxO ClearView haze removal, in a completely new user interface that is simple, clean and intuitive. DxO Optics Pro is an impressive product, and given what it does the price / performance ratio is attractive. It adds some impressive adjustment tools. Ten seconds per dual export per file adds up. Capture One Pro 7 with its own adjusments to match the DXO version and same export options took 35 seconds. I look at DxO as a raw converter with some unique features that can make the difference between a great image and one that either ends up in the trash or takes more time to edit than I want to invest. It's a shame because their PRIME noise reduction algorithm is fantastic, and even better in this version, but they still have no plans to support us.

DxO image processing for supported cameras can now be accessed directly from within the editing mode of OS X Photos, with DxO OpticsPro acting as a 3rd-party extension. DxO Optics Pro 7 will get the best possible results from camera raw files, doing the best job of removing image noise and chromatic aberration we've seen. Optics Pro converted a 16MP RAW file with various adjustments into a full-res 300dpi, 16-bit TIFF and a full-res 72dpi JPEG at 100 quality with renaming in 25 seconds. Both versions include DxO smart lighting, optical corrections from over 20,000 lens and camera configurations, and the essential editing tools. In case you were hoping that DXO Labs had finally decided to support Fujifilm with their new version 11 of Optics Pro, bad news I'm afraid.

DxO OpticsPro for Photos is designed to provide a seamless image processing workflow for Photographers who are on a Mac, and use OS X Photos as their primary photo application. First launched in early 2004 under the name Optics Pro, DxO rebranded its Raw processor as PhotoLab back in 2017 to better reflect that its capabilities now go far beyond just lens corrections, and simultaneously absorbed the popular Nik Collection plugins from Google for integration into its own software.
